Terrence E. Roby, 45, of Waterloo, was taken into custody 7:43 p.m. March 9 on two Adair County warrants, each charging him with violation of a no contact/protective order. He was charged with an additional count of violation of a no contact/protective order at approximately 10:44 p.m.

According to Greenfield Police Department and Adair County Sheriff’s Office reports, at approximately 9:14 p.m. July 21, officers responded to an apartment on SE 6th Street for report of a male and female arguing. The resident of the apartment refused to open the door but told officers everything was fine through the closed door. The resident is listed as the protected party in a Polk County protective order against Roby.

Multiple residents in the complex said Roby was inside the apartment. Some residents said they saw him looking out of the doorway and checking the hallway throughout the evening. Roby was seen sitting on the apartment’s outdoor staircase and entering the apartment. One resident said Roby was hiding in the apartment of the protected party.

Officers and deputies advised the protected party they needed to enter the residence to check for Roby. They were unable to locate him. The resident admitted Roby had been with her in the apartment but said he left before officers arrived. After officers left the apartment a resident said Roby had not left and had to be in the apartment somewhere hiding.

At 10:24 p.m. another report was received stating Roby could be heard inside the apartment.

At approximately 11 a.m. Jan. 4, officers responded to the apartment complex for report of a possible child kidnapping. When officers arrived, the child was back at the residence. The mother of the child, who is the protected party in an active Polk County protective order against Roby, said Roby was watching the two-week-old infant while she was at work and had briefly taken the child out of the residence without consent.

At approximately 8:10 p.m. March 9, while being booked into the Adair County Jail, Roby made a phone call to a female he claimed was his wife. It was later discovered the call was made to the protected party.
