No citations were issued in a two-vehicle accident Thursday in Union County.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 4:04 p.m. a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by Nellie L. Loury, 81, of, Creston, was backing out of a driveway on the west side of Cherry Street Road, when she struck a trailer being pulled by a 2022 Ram 2500 Laramie, driven by Luis M. Huerta Fernandez, 40, of Hobbs, New Mexico.

Fernandez, who was southbound on Cherry Street Road, honked and swerved into the other lane in attempt to avoid the Pacifica but when he returned to the correct lane, the trailer made contact with the front driver’s side fender of the Pacifica, which had completely backed out and was facing southbound.

No damage was reported to the trailer and damage to the Pacifica was estimated at $3,000.

No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:51 p.m. a 2011 Honda Pilot, driven by Jennie P. England, 37, of Creston, was northbound on Sumner Street in the inside lane and attempted to change lanes, when she struck a 2024 Toyota Prius, driven by Jacqueline Welchans, 41, of Creston, also northbound in the outside lane.

England did not signal for the lane change and did not see the Prius next to her. She also told officers on scene she was at fault.

Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,000 each.
