An Irwin man was injured Thursday in Creston when his truck caught fire after hitting a parked semi.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 11:04 p.m., a 2011 Ford F150, driven by Brady C. Gross, 19, of Irwin, was eastbound in the 300 block of West Union Street, when for unknown reasons, it left the roadway northbound, at a slow rate of speed. The F150 struck an unoccupied 1997 International semi which was legally parked in a parking lot.
After striking the semi, while still in gear, the accelerator of the F150 was depressed for an extended amount of time, causing the rear tires to catch fire and start the truck on fire. A bystander pulled Gross out of the burning truck.
Gross appeared highly intoxicated and was taken to Greater Regional Health by ambulance.
Damage to the F150 was estimated at $8,000 and damage to the International was estimated at $1,000.
The Creston Police Department advises charges against Gross are pending.
