No injuries were reported Friday in a car versus deer accident Friday.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 7:44 p.m. a 2022 Chevrolet Trax, driven by Quentin Hingeley, 53, of Diagonal, was westbound on Highway 34 near Afton, when a deer entered the lane from the north ditch. Hingeley was unable to avoid hitting the animal and caused front end damage to the Trax.

Damage to the Trax was estimated at $3,000.

No citations were issued in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning in Afton.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 10:51 a.m., a 2005 Ford Freestyle, driven by Peggy Ragusi, 69, of Thayer, was backing out of a parking space at Casey’s in Afton when it struck a 2008 Chevrolet HHR parked at a gas pump. The HHR was unoccupied.

Damage to the Freestyle was estimated at $500 and damage to the HHR was estimated at $2,000.
