Trevor Benge, 38, of Afton, was taken into custody Sept. 25 at his residence on the charge of driving while barred.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 8:26 p.m. Sept. 23, a 2002 Chevrolet Impala was involved in a one-vehicle accident on Redwood Avenue near High School Drive in Afton. After entering the ditch and driving through a barbed wire fence, the driver of the Impala left the scene of the accident prior to law enforcement arrival. A female arrived at the scene and told deputies she and Benge had got into an argument and he had left her residence in Afton in the same Impala found in the ditch. She stated Benge did not have a license and the Impala was not insured.

The following day, deputies made contact with Benge at his residence. He admitted he was the driver of the Impala when it was involved in the accident and admitted to leaving the scene because he did not have a drivers license. He made voluntary statements and showed law enforcement injuries he sustained from the wreck.

Benge was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $2,000 cash or surety bond. He was cited for failure to provide proof of financial liability - accident.
