Ryan J. Cook, 44, of Anita, was taken into custody 7:02 a.m. July 23 in Adair on the charges of criminal mischief, third degree; criminal mischief, fifth degree and was served on an Adair County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of violation of probation after being taken into custody.

According to an Adair Police report, at approximately 5:12 a.m. an intoxicated male was reported in the 600 block of 8th Street, who had caused damage to property in the area. When officers arrived, they were told by witnesses the male, identified as Cook, was intoxicated and angry after an argument with his wife. Cook hit the hood of his wife’s car with a dolly, causing a large dent and hit her apartment door, creating several holes.

Cook, who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes and impaired balance, told officers he had fallen into the apartment door.

According to Adair District Court documents, Cook was ordered to be in court July 21 and did not appear.

Cook was transported to the Adair County Jail and held on $7,000 cash or surety bond.

Dillon J. Blazina, 32, of Waukee, was taken into custody 8:15 p.m. July 23 on Interstate 80 eastbound, mile marker 76, on the charge of OWI, second offense.

According to an Adair Police report, at approximately 7:02 p.m. officers observed a Mazda MZ3 southbound on 5th Street attempt to enter onto Interstate 80 using the west ramp instead of turning east. The driver, later identified as Blazina, realized the error and quickly made a u-turn while on the off-ramp and entered the interstate correctly.

Officers got behind the Mazda and observed it weave in its lane, go over the white line and over the center line. Blazina attempted to shut the driver’s door several times while driving on the interstate.

A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with Blazina who had slurred speech, bloodshot, watery eyes, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. When asked for his license, registration and insurance information, Blazina provided his license and had to be asked two more times for the other documents.

Blazina told officers he had had nothing to drink and consented to field sobriety testing, which indicated clues of impairment. He refused PBT testing. After being transported to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Blazina consented to provide a breath sample for chemical testing, the result of which indicated a BAC of .324%.

Blazina has a previous OWI conviction in 2014 in Story County.

Blazina was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Thomas Lovell, 41, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:16 p.m. July 27 in Greenfield, as a fugitive from justice on a warrant issued in Weld County, Colorado for failure to comply with bond conditions on the original charges of two counts felony menacing - real/simulated weapon, assault 3 - knowingly or recklessly causing injury and child abuse - knowingly or recklessly causing injury.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 9:48 p.m. a 2002 Mercury Sable was reported sitting in front of the hardware store in Greenfield on the gravel. After running the plate on the vehicle, it was discovered the registered owner, identified as Lovell, had a warrant issued for his arrest originating in Colorado. Lovell was detained until the warrant was confirmed. The originating agency advised Adair County they would extradite.

Lovell was transported to the Adair County Jail and held without bond awaiting extradition to Colorado.

Alejandro Rivas De Armas, 34, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 8:09 p.m. July 28 in the 300 block of SE 5th Street in Greenfield on an Adair County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense.

According to an Adair County District Court document, De Armas was to appear in court July 21 on the original charge and did not.

De Armas was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Jordanne R. Beardsley, 29, of Fontanelle, was taken into custody 10:55 p.m. July 29 in Greenfield on the charge of driving while barred.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 10:36 p.m. officers observed Beardsley exiting Casey’s in Greenfield and get into the driver’s seat of a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Beardsley is known by officers to have a barred driver’s license. It was also discovered the registration on the Malibu had expired in March.

When Beardsley was observed driving out of the parking lot, a traffic stop was initiated. A check of her license confirmed her as barred.

Beardsley was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
