Kayla S. Hoffman, 34, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:48 p.m. July 20 at Division and Devoe streets on the charge of theft, third degree.

No details were available.

Hoffman was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Jeremiah L. Whitney, 22, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:01 p.m. July 20 in the 900 block of West Summit Street on the charge of assault.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:49 p.m. officers responded to report of a fight. When they arrived, they spoke to a male who said when he arrived to get his property another male at the residence, identified as Whitney, got upset and assaulted him by grabbing him and throwing him around. The victim said he was also pushed against the car in the driveway by Whitney, who attempted to punch the victim but was not successful. Witness statements matched the victims account of the incident.

Whitney was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.
