Mark A. Weems, 40, of Creston, incarcerated in the Union County Jail, was served 11:33 a.m. May 26, on two Union County warrants for the charges of burglary, third degree and theft, second degree.

According to a Creston Police report, on April 13, Arlan League reported an ATV and other vehicles were stolen from his property in the 400 block of New York Avenue. All vehicles except the ATV were recovered and reported to have been taken by Weems. A search warrant for the Facebook page of Weems was executed which provided information on the sale of all items, including the ATV. Contact was made with the purchaser of the ATV who stated Weems sold him the ATV for $1,600 in person at the McDonald’s in Glenwood. The VIN of the ATV purchased was verified and matched the stolen ATV.

Weems is being held in the Union County Jail with an additional $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Alejandro Jimenez, 22, of Ames, was taken into custody 8:26 p.m. May 29 on the charge of theft, fifth degree.

According to a Creston Police report, Jimenez did not scan and pay for all of the items he attempted to leave Walmart with. He was stopped by Walmart employees as he attempted to leave the store. He made statements to officers that he had not paid for all of his items.

Jimenez was cited and released at the scene on a summons to appear.

At 2:35 p.m. Friday, May 19, Dory Schafer of Corning, reported her 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe had been damaged while parked in the employee parking area at Walmart in Creston.

Damage was estimated at $1,000.

At 3:42 p.m. Friday, May 26, Dawn Miller of Creston, reported between 8 p.m. May 25 and 1:30 p.m. May 26, her 2008 Chevrolet Silverado had been damaged while parked in front of her residence in the 400 block of North Maple Street.

Damage was estimated at $600.

At 6:17 p.m. Friday, May 26, Melissa Raddatz of Creston, reported between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. someone had taken a pink women’s bicycle which was leaning against the deck at her residence in the 500 block of West Mills Street.

Property loss was estimated at $150.

At 4 a.m. Monday, May 29, Nichole Adams of Creston, reported two people had cut a window screen to gain access to her residence in the 1300 block of East Howard Street. Adams reported cash was taken from a wallet and all other items were dropped as the intruders were chased out of the residence.

Property loss was estimated at $60.
