Jory J. Larkin, 36, of Clarinda, was taken into custody 11 p.m. March 18 during a traffic stop on Highway 34 and Chestnut on the charges of OWI, first offense; possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

According to an Adams County report, a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder was stopped for speeding, traveling 71 mph in a 55 mph zone and observed to be unable to maintain its lane. Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Larkin, who had dilated pupils and slurred speech. Larkin consented to and failed field sobriety testing. He consented to advanced roadside impaired driving enforcement (ARIDE) testing and showed signs of narcotic impairment. He admitted to smoking marijuana the prior day.

Larkin was transported to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office where he refused to provide an adequate sample for testing. Larkin is being held in the Adams County Jail on $2,300 cash only bond.

Devon Hale, 31, of Villisca, was taken into custody March 3 on 260th Street and Birch Ave and charged with OWI, first offense; no valid operators license and open container. He was cited for a speed violation.

According to an Adams County report, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a red truck for traveling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone and crossing the center line twice. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Hale, who was observed to have bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Hale told deputies he did not have a drivers license.

When Hale stepped out of the vehicle at the request of deputies, an open 12 ounce Coors Light can was observed in the center console of the truck. Hale refused field sobriety testing at PBT testing. He was transported to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office where he refused to provide a breath sample for chemical testing.

Hale was released from the Adams County Jail after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Tara A. Squibbs, 39, of Corning, was taken into custody 5:30 p.m. Feb. 28 on four Adams County warrants, all for the charge of failure to appear on the original charges of two counts driving while suspended, leaving the scene of an injury accident and failure to provide proof of financial liability in an accident.

According to Adams County documents, Squibbs was scheduled to appear in court on multiple dates on the original charges and did not appear.

Squibbs was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on a $1,200 cash only bond.

Joleen Most, 44, of Red Oak, was taken into custody Feb. 27 on an Adams County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of violation of probation.

According to Adams County District Court documents, Most was ordered to be in court Aug. 9, 2022, and did not appear.

Most was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $5,500 cash only bond.

Quinn Johnston, 39, of Omaha, Nebraska, was taken into custody Feb. 24 on Highway 34 and Dogwood Avenue on the charges of possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and possession of paraphernalia.

According to an Adams County report, at approximately 10:23 p.m. deputies stopped a KIA Sportage for traveling 73 mph in a 55 mph zone. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Johnston, Deputies observed a THC wax pen in plain view inside the vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana. A probably cause search was conducted, in which a glass pipe with marijuana residue and a glass bong used to smoke marijuana, were located.

Johnston was transported to the Adams County Jail and held on $1,200 cash only bond.
