Andrea V. Lazcano, 26, of Newton, was taken into custody at 1:33 a.m. Feb. 26 on the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 11:19 p.m. Feb. 25 a report was received of a white Ford pickup all over the road northbound on Highway 25 near 300th Street. A responding deputy came in contact with the truck near 210th Street and followed the truck to observe. Within the first mile of following the truck, the driver, later identified as Lazcano, swerved into the opposite lane of traffic.

A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with Lazcano, who had bloodshot, watery eyes and who admitted to consuming alcohol. Lazcano consented to field sobriety testing, the results of which indicated clues of impairment. A PBT test showed a BAC of over .08%.

Lazcano was transported to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office where she consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result of the test indicated a BAC of .168%

Lazcano was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Dana M. Walker, 35, of Adair, was taken into custody 11:08 p.m. Feb. 26 on the charge of driving while license denied or revoked.

According to a Stuart Police report, at approximately 10:22 p.m. officers stopped a 1998 Plymouth Neon near mile marker 84 of Interstate 80 westbound for failing to maintain its lane and having a third brake light out. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Walker. Walker possessed a revoked license due to a OWI conviction.

Walker was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance. She was cited for the charge of failure to provide proof of financial responsibility (no insurance).

Joseph E. Funke, 46, of Fontanelle, and Scott W. Funke, 47, both of Fontanelle were taken into custody 6:42 p.m. Feb. 27. Joseph was charged on two Adair County warrants for the charges of failure to appear on the original charge of violation of probation and failure to appear on the original charge of driving while barred, he was additionally charged with driving while suspended and speeding. Scott was charged with driving while barred.

According to Adair County District Court documents, Joseph was ordered to appear in court May 14, 2021, on the original charges and did not appear.

An Adair County report states at approximately 5:41 p.m. Feb. 27, while on a traffic stop on Stuart Road, a deputy observed a Chevrolet Silverado westbound on 130th Street traveling at a high rate of speed. The truck was known by law enforcement to be driven by Joseph, who had active warrants in Adair County. The deputy followed the truck and clocked it on in-car radar at 97 mph in a 55 mph zone. Due to distance and road conditions, the deputy did not pursue the truck.

A short time later, a tip was received of a suspicious box truck parked in the 1800 block of Orange Avenue with tracks leading on to 190th Street to the south side of Meadow Lake public hunting area. The truck was located but was unoccupied. At approximately 6:25 p.m. another deputy came in contact with the truck near 160th Street on Highway 25 and stopped it in the 1200 block. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Scott Funke and passenger, identified as Joesph Funke.

Scott was found to have a barred license. Joseph admitted to being the driver of the Silverado on 130th Street. Joseph was found to have a suspended license with a total of 15 withdrawals on file, spanning from 2009-2021.

Scott and Joseph were transported to the Adair County Jail where they were released from after each posted $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Jackson Bakken, 21, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:20 p.m. Feb. 28 on the charges of OWI, second offense; possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense; possession of a controlled substance - oxycodone, first offense; open container; failure to maintain control of vehicle and carrying weapons while intoxicated.

According to an Adair County report, at approximately 7:39 p.m. deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident at Highway 92 and Riverside Avenue. When they arrived on scene, a Chevrolet Silverado was observed in the north ditch on its top. The driver of the truck, identified as Bakken, was standing on the side of the road with witnesses. Bakken told law enforcement he had lost control of the truck on the opposite shoulder and rolled it. While speaking with Bakken, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from his breath. Bakken refused medical attention.

Deputies observed open containers of Fireball whiskey and a polymer pistol lower in plain view and conducted a probable cause search of the truck. Multiple bottles of whiskey containing various amounts of alcohol, a baggie of gummies which later tested positive for marijuana and a pill bottle containing oxycodone not prescribed to Bakken were located in the truck. Bakken made statements about guns he had left by an electric line pole. Two pistols, a Kimber 9mm and a black .380, as well as a AR-15 with an attached scope on top were located by law enforcement. Greenfield Fire personnel located multiple empty Fireball containers from the passenger’s side frame of the truck.

Bakken consented to and failed field sobriety testing and a PBT test showed a BAC of over .08%.

After being advised of his Miranda Rights, Bakken admitted he had removed the guns from the truck after the crash. He said someone had shown up at the scene of the accident and told him to remove the guns from his truck. Bakken also stated the edibles were his and purchased in South Dakota.

Bakken was transported to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office were he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result indicated a BAC of .239%. Bakken has a prior conviction in Minnesota.

Bakken was cited and released from the Adair County Sheriff’s Office on a summons to appear.

Jasmine R. Blaylock, 37, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 7:13 p.m March 2 on an Adair County warrant for the charge of theft, fourth degree.

According to a Greenfield Police report, on Feb. 19 a vehicle reported as stolen was recovered but a battery charger jumper pack previously in the vehicle was missing. Information given to officers led them to a residence in Greenfield where Blaylock resides. A search warrant of the residence conducted Feb. 23 resulted in the recovery of the jumper pack.

Blaylock was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Scotty W. Hudson Jr., 34, of Des Moines, was taken into custody 9:22 p.m. March 2 on the charges of OWI, second offense and open container.

According to an Adair County report, a Ford F150 was stopped for driving on the shoulder of the Highway 25, with both passenger side tires over the rumble strips. When contact was made with the driver, identified as Hudson, a bottle of Budweiser was observed in the passenger seat with the seal broken. The odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Hudson’s person was detected and Hudson admitted to consuming alcohol.

Hudson consented to field sobriety testing, during which, clues of impairment were observed. A PBT test indicated a BAC of over .08%.

Hudson was transported to the Adair County Sheriff’s Office where he consented to provide a breath specimen for chemical testing. The result indicated a BAC of .131%.

Hudson was cited and released from the Adair County Jail on a summons to appear.

Dustin Benge, 40, of Greenfield, was taken into custody 9:31 p.m. March 2 on an Adair County warrant for the charges of criminal mischief, second degree; theft, fourth degree and harassment, third degree.

According to a Greenfield Police report, on Feb. 20 a Greenfield man reported on Feb. 19 a female operated his vehicle without his consent after she took his keys from the residence and took the car. The owner of the vehicle stated a third party had tracked down his vehicle at Nodaway Lake, with the female driving it and a male, identified as Benge with her. The third party told police she had gotten into the vehicle at one point and Benge had threatened physical harm to her if she didn’t get out. The third party then got out and walked home.

When the third party got home she stated the vehicle was already parked at its original location in Greenfield and covered in gasoline with property missing from inside of it.

On Feb. 23 a search warrant was executed at Benge’s residence and the property missing from the vehicle was recovered in the driveway of the residence.

Benge was transported to the Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $5,000 cash or surety bond.

Larissa Beaty, 40, of Ankeny, was taken into custody 7:04 p.m. March 3 and charged with driving while barred.

According to an Adair County report, deputies observed a 2005 Dodge Ram westbound on Highway 92 at 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, identified as Beaty. After running Beaty’s information it was determined her license status was barred.

Beaty was transported to the Adair County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
