Devon Keller, 32, of Creston, was taken into custody 10:36 p.m. Jan. 25 on the charge of violation of no contact/protective order - contempt of court.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:36 p.m. officers observed two vehicles pulled over on the side of Pole Road. Officers stopped and checked on the occupants of both vehicles, who said they were fine. While leaving the area, officer’s ran the license plate of one of the vehicles and discovered the registered owner was listed in an active protective order. Officer’s then ran the protected party’s information and verified she was the occupant of the other vehicle.

Officers went back to the area and spoke with both individuals and confirmed their identity. Both told officers they had been to court and the order had been dropped. Dispatch told officer’s one order had been dropped but one was still active and in place. The male, identified as Keller, was taken into custody, and the female, who had children in the car, was released and told to come to the Law Enforcement Center the next day.

Keller was transported the Union County Jail and held without bond until seen by the magistrate.
