Jacob J. Fry, 40, homeless, was taken into custody 9:26 a.m. Jan. 20 on the 300 block of North Jarvis Street on a Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services warrant for the charge of violation of probation on the original charges of two counts possession of products intended for manufacturing any controlled substance.

According to a Department of Correctional Services report, on Feb. 25, 2022, Fry was sentenced to three years of probation on the original charges. Fry reportedly violated the conditions of his probation by the following: On Nov. 27, Fry was kicked out of a sober living house; on Dec. 1, Fry admitted to recent methamphetamine use and on Dec. 14, Fry entered Bethel Mission due to lack of stable, approved housing in the community.

On Dec. 27 probation was notified by the mission Fry had left the facility with a friend and went to Sioux City. Fry did not have permission from probation to be anywhere except the mission. This is the second report of violations since being sentenced in February.

Fry was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $5,000 cash only bond.

Robert E. Kibbe III, 37, of Creston, was taken into custody 11:11 a.m. Jan. 22 at his residence on two Union County warrants for the charges of violation of probation on the original charge of harassment, first degree and violation of probation on the original charge of domestic abuse assault display or use of a weapon.

According to Department of Correctional Services reports, Kibbe was sentenced to two years of probation on Aug. 31, 2021, and two years probation to run concurrent on Sept. 21, 2021, on the original charges. On Dec. 25 Kibbe reportedly was unsuccessfully discharged from a Salvation Army program due to not returning to the facility by the set curfew time.

Kibbe was transported to the Union County Jail and held without bond until his initial appearance.

On Jan. 18 at approximately 4:07 p.m. Joseph Marcus, of Creston, reported sometime between 5:30-6 p.m. Jan. 14, he lost his camo Winchester SX4 gun while hunting at the Gator Farm.

Estimated loss was $1,000.
