Misty M. Matera, 47, of Creston, was taken into custody 11:56 a.m. Jan. 18, on the charges of theft, fifth degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to a Creston Police report, officers were called to Walmart in reference to a theft. When they arrived, they were shown video and receipts by an employee showing a female, identified as Matera, taking merchandise from the store without paying on three separate occasions. Matera did admit to officers she had stolen items from the store.
While having Matera empty her pockets, officers noticed a vape pen. Matera told officers it was a THC vape pen and it field tested positive for THC.
Matera was transported to the Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $600 cash or surety bond.
