A citation was issued to a driver who hit a parked car Thursday in Creston.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 9:34 p.m. Dec. 1 a 2018 Chevrolet Cruz driven by Lucas Lynch, 18, of Creston, was southbound on Cedar Street when it swerved to the opposite side of the street and struck a legally parked 2013 Kia Optima.

Lynch told officers he swerved because he saw a car parked in the road in front of him but officers noted there were no vehicles parked in the area Lynch reportedly saw them. Lynch was issued a citation for reckless driving.

The estimated damages to the Cruz and Optima were $7,500 per vehicle. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

No injuries were reported in a Thursday evening accident on North Oak Street.

According to a Union County report, at approximately 7:18 p.m. a Chevrolet Cruz, driven by Audrey Harris, 19, of Creston, was backing out of a driveway on North Oak Street when it struck a legally parked 2011 Mitsubishi Galant.

Harris was issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility (no insurance).

Estimated damage to the Cruz was listed at $2,500 and $1,500 to the Galant.
