Jessica Swietlik, 35, of Creston, was taken into custody Nov. 20 from Clarke County on a Union County warrant for violation of probation on the original charges of driving while barred - habitual offender and two counts of child endangerment without injury.

According to a Department of Corrections violation report, Swietlik was placed on probation as part of a plea deal on the above charges in Union County. Swietlik violated the terms of her probation when she was arrested Nov. 1 in Clarke County for the charge of driving while barred.

This is the fourth report of violations during this term of supervision. The first report was dismissed and probation was continued; the second report resulted in a deferred judgement being revoked and Swietlik being sentenced to two years probation; the third report sentenced Swietlik to 60 days in Union County Jail with all but nine days suspended with the ability to purge the balance with complete compliance to probation terms and an extension of one year to her probation.

Swietlik was transported to the Adams County Jail where she was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Mitchell Bond, 54, of Sharpsburg, was taken into custody 7:06 p.m. Nov. 19 for the charge of OWI, first offense.

According to an Union County report, a third party reported a truck rolled over on its passenger side in the east ditch on Hi and Dry Road with a male subject still inside. Deputies arrived at the scene and spoke with the driver, identified as Bond, who stated he swerved to miss a deer and veered off of the road.

First responders and law enforcement both smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Bond’s breath. Bond also had bloodshot watery eyes. Bond told deputies he had been drinking vodka lemonades at a Creston bar prior to the accident. Bond did admit to driving and being impaired. A PBT test showed a BAC above the legal limit. Bond consented to Datamaster testing which indicated a BAC of .287%.

Bond was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $1,000 cash or surety bond.

Brooke M. Carter, 32, of Creston, was taken into custody Nov. 22 at the Creston Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to serve jail sentence on the original charge of violation of a protective order.

According to a Union County District Court document, Carter was sentenced Oct. 18 on the original charge. As part of a plea deal Carter was ordered to serve two days in the Union County Jail beginning Nov. 18. Carter did not appear as ordered.

Carter was transported to Adams County Jail and held until the balance of the court ordered sentence is complete.
