Joseph W. Harrison, 46, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:13 p.m. Oct. 7 at Montgomery Street Pub on the charges of assault on persons in certain occupations-bodily injury and interference with official acts resulting in bodily injury.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:57 p.m. officers responded to a fight at Montgomery Street Pub where they made contact with a male, identified as Harrison, who was on the floor and appeared to be having a medical issue. While officers were trying to get him to sit up against the wall, Harrison stood up from the ground and elbowed a deputy in the face. Officers told Harrison to stop fighting and eventually escorted the him to the ground. Harrison continued to resist officers commands while on the ground. After the altercation, a Union County Deputy and a Creston Police Officer sought medical attention for injuries sustained during the altercation.

Harrison was transported to Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $3,000 cash or surety bond.

Kenneth Q. Weaselhead, 26, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:42 p.m. Oct. 7 at Montgomery Street Pub on the charge of disorderly conduct - fighting/violent behavior.

According to a Creston Police report, Weaselhead was observed by staff at Montgomery Street Pub engaging in fight-like behavior. Video footage was obtained by law enforcement which showed the Weaselhead fighting with another individual. Weaselhead made statements he had grabbed at the individual and engaged in the behavior. The incident occurred in a bar, accessible by the public and where other individuals were present.

Weaselhead was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Ashley Dawn Eblen, 24 of Creston, was taken into custody 10:08 p.m. Oct. 8 at her residence on the charges of possession of controlled substance second offense, interference with official acts and disorderly conduct.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were called to a disturbance at a residence on the 600 block of South Cherry Street. Eblen was reported to be yelling at her roommate and threw her roommate’s property in the yard of the residence. Eblen had been drinking. While officers were at the residence, Eblen continued to yell at her roommate and yelled at officers and neighbors. When officers attempted to take Eblen into custody, she pulled away and resisted arrest. When being taken to a patrol unit, Eblen advised officers she had marijuana on her person and once she arrived at the Union County Law Enforcement Center she took the marijuana out her bra and gave it to officers. She also told officers she broke her roommate’s T.V.

Eblen was transported to Clarke County Jail where she was released from on her own recognizance after being seen by the magistrate.

Tyler J. Hicks, 33, of Creston was taken into custody 3:11 a.m. Oct. 9 at Howard and Elm streets on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:39 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on a red 1993 Chevy pickup for failing to have any headlights or taillights. Creston Police K-9 Baxo was deployed around the vehicle and alerted positively to the odor of narcotics. A probable cause search was conducted and produced more than one pipe/smoking device and two small bags with residue which tested positive for methamphetamine. The driver, identified as Hicks, was within reach of the items.

Hicks was taken to Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Travis Q. Wambold, 45, of Fontanelle, was taken into custody 3:11 a.m. Oct. 9 at Howard and Elm streets on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 2:39 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on a red 1993 Chevy pickup for failing to have any headlights or taillights. Bethanylyn R. Brown, 28, of Creston, was taken into custody 11:45 a.m. Oct. 9 on the 700 block of North Vine Street on the charge of violation of a no contact/protective order.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were notified of a potential violation of a no contact order at Casey’s General Store on Townline and Cherry streets. Officers arrived at the business and spoke to the reporting party who confirmed the description of the two parties and advised both walked west from the store. Officers located the two people walking south on Vine street with two children. Officers made contact with the couple at Vine and Carpenter streets. When asked for identification both advised they didn’t have any. A protective order with the female, identified as Brown, as the protected party, was shown on file but both parties claimed they were notified the order had been dropped.

Brown was transported to Adams County Jail where she is being held without bond until seen by the magistrate.

Joseph Dean Baze-Gaiser, 39, of Creston was taken into custody 12:13 p.m. Oct. 9 on the 700 block of North Vine St. on the charges of violation of no contact/protective order and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense offense.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were notified of a potential violation of a no contact order at Casey’s General Store on Townline and Cherry streets. Hayley J. Vandel, 29, of Creston, was taken into custody 11:21 p.m. Oct. 9 at Poplar and Taylor streets on the charge of driving while suspended.

According to a Creston Police Report, Vandel was observed to be driving a 2006 Ford F250 while her driving privileges were suspended in the state of Iowa.

Vandel was transported to Union County Jail where she was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Driver cited for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility Friday in Creston accident.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 4:05 p.m. Oct. 7, a 2004 Volvo tractor/trailer with a load full of pigs, driven by Dennis Kinsella, 74, of Creston, was eastbound on Highway 34 near Laurel street when the light turned yellow. Kinsella knew he would not be able to stop in time with a load full and proceeded through the intersection. A 2009 Pontiac G5, driven by Charles Claytor, 35, of Creston, was traveling south onto Laurel Street from Highway 34 and was waiting to turn in the intersection when he was struck by the semi. The G5 slid across the road and struck a 2017 GMC Canyon, driven by Kara Larson, 52, of Corning, who was sitting at traffic light on Laurel.

Damage done to the semi was estimated at $1,000. Estimated damage to the GMC Canyon was listed as $500. Damages to the G5 was estimated at $5,000. Claytor was also issued a citation for failure to provide proof of financial responsibility (no insurance).
