Hailey E. Hart, 31, of Diagonal, was taken into custody 2:30 a.m. Sept. 10 at Division and School streets in Orient on the charge of OWI first offense.

According to an Adair County report, a deputy who was parked in a marked patrol unit at the Orient Macksburg School parking lot observed a grey vehicle fail to stop at the four way stop at the intersection. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, identified as Hart and a male passenger. A clear plastic cup containing a clear liquid and was observed by the deputy. The passenger said the cup contained ice water but after requesting to see the drink, it was determined by the deputy it contained alcohol. The passenger took ownership of the drink. Hart told deputy she had drank a few alcoholic drinks earlier in the night. Standardized field sobriety testing was conducted and Hart consented to a PBT test at the scene. Based on observations made by the deputy, indicated clues of impairment and a PBT result of above .08%, Hart was taken into custody. Hart was transported to Adair County Jail where she consented to provide a breath specimen for Datamaster testing. The result of the sample indicated a BAC of .153%

Hart was cited and released from the Adair County Jail on a summons to appear.

Tray D. Anderson, 31, of Exira, was taken into custody 10:41 a.m. Sept. 8 on an Adair County warrant for the charges of violation of probation.

According to a Judicial District Department of Correctional Services report, in September 2021 Anderson was sentenced to serve two years probation for an earlier arrest.. Anderson violated multiple terms of probation to include failure to attend 11 probation appointments October 2021 - August; testing positive or admitting to using methamphetamine 10 times December 2021 - July; making no payments toward his supervision fees and failure to attend a substance abuse program after being unsuccessfully discharged from outpatient treatment in March.

Anderson is being held in Adair County Jail on $2,500 cash or surety bond.

James M. Nyang, 54, of Omaha, Nebraska, was taken into custody at approximately 4 p.m. Sept. 6 near mile marker 89 on Interstate 80 for the charges of OWI second offense and two counts of child endangerment.

According to an Iowa State Patrol report, a trooper saw someone kneeling down next to the rear, driver’s side of a vehicle along the interstate. The trooper pulled behind the car to check the status of the driver. Two small children standing on the back seat and an adult male searching under the driver’s seat were observed.

Contact was made with the driver, identified as Nyang. An open bottle of liquor in the center console cup holder was observed and odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Nyang was noted. Nyang consented to a PBT test which results exceeded .08% BAC. Nyang was transported to Adair County Jail where he provided a breath specimen for Datamaster testing. The result of the test was .209% BAC.

Nyang was held at Adair County Jail on $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Gregory A. Meierotto, 55, of Keokuk, was taken into custody 4:13 a.m. Sept. 6 near Stuart for the charge of driving while barred.

According to a Stuart Police report, a complaint was relayed to officers of a Ford Explorer “all over the road,” traveling west near mile marker 110 on Interstate 80. Officers located a vehicle matching the description and attempted to get behind it but the Explorer pulled over on the shoulder. Officers pulled in behind the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Meierotto. When told of the complaint, Meierotto said he was very tired and had started to fall asleep.

He did not have ID with him and told officers his license was suspended. When officers ran Meierotto’s information, his license was barred.

Meierotto was transported to Adair County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
