Cory McKinney, 48, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:19 p.m. Aug. 13 near U.S. Highway 169 South junction of U.S. Highway 34 for the charge of driving while barred. He was additionally cited for reckless driving and speeding (21 mph or over).

According to an Union County Sheriff’s Office report, a purple 1998 Harley Davidson motorcycle was observed traveling westbound on Highway 34 at a high rate of speed. Deputies clocked the motorcycle speed at 82 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, identified as McKinney. While checking McKinney’s license status, it was found that McKinney possessed a barred license in Iowa.

McKinney was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Jesse Ramos, 50, of Fairfield, was taken into custody 11:30 p.m. Aug. 14 on the 1500 block of U.S Highway 25 on two Union County warrants, both for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of public intoxication.

According to Union County District Court documents, Ramos was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 17 on two charges of public intoxication stemming from arrests on July 28 and 29 and did not appear.

Ramos was transported to Union County Jail and held on $600 cash bond.

Dawn Hanan, 33, of Afton, was taken into custody 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14 on Clayton Street in Afton on the charge of assault.

According to an Union County Sheriff’s Office report, Hanan threw an alcoholic beverage at a female neighbor which did strike her. The victim did not have visible marks and declined medical services.

Hanan was transported to Adams County Jail where she was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.
