A citation was issued for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle in a two vehicle accident Saturday, June 25.

According to a Union County accident report, at approximately 10:47 p.m. two Greater Regional Medical ambulances were stopped on Highway 34 near Lark Avenue with their emergency lights activated checking on a vehicle in the ditch. A 2005 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Bradley Toppin of Afton was stopped for the emergency vehicles. One of the ambulances, driven by Dennis Cheers of Afton, was attempting to turn around from the shoulder at the same time that the Chevrolet pickup proceeded. The two vehicles came into contact with each other in the center of the highway.

Toppin was issued a citation for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Damage was estimated at $500 for the pickup and $1,500 for the ambulance. No injuries were reported.
