Francis C. Weihs, 68, of Creston, was taken into custody 12:51 a.m. June 11 on the 200 block of West Montgomery Street and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, Weihs was observed on a public sidewalk near the Montgomery Street Pub, he had impaired balance and had made statements about consuming alcoholic beverages earlier. Officers advised Weihs to leave the area. When Weihs went to obtain items from his car, officers that were near his vehicle observed two wooden containers in the center console. When asked about them, Weihs closed the vehicle door. Creston Police K9 Baxo was deployed and displayed a positive alert to the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating two wooden containers: one had visible green leafy substance consistent with marijuana in it and the other had a small pipe with residue on the tip in it.

Weihs was transported to the Union County Jail were he was later released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Christopher S. Wright, 46, of Creston, was taken into custody at his residence 2:44 a.m. June 11 and charged with child endangerment and domestic abuse assault, first offense.

According to a Creston Police report, at 1:50 a.m. on June 11, a minor female contacted law enforcement because of a domestic situation occurring at her residence between her parents. While speaking with the minor, officers were told by her that Wright chased her through the house and hit her with a closed fist on the left side of her head. An adult female at the residence reported to officers that Wright also struck her on the left side of the head causing her ear to ring for an extended time. Officers observed the female’s left ear to be more red than the right ear.

Wright was transported to the Union County Jail where he was later released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.

Jacob J. Davis, 26, of Creston, was taken into custody 5:27 p.m. June 11 on the charge of trespass, first offense and a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of assault.

According to an Union County District Court report, Davis was scheduled to appear on March 29, 2022, for pre-trial conference on a 2021 assault charge and did not appear. Davis was located on June 11 on Pine Street, on property that he did not have permission to be on.

Davis is being held in the Union County Jail on $500 cash only bond.

Shannon Cox, 45, of Lenox, was taken into custody 1:35 a.m. June 12 at the 700 block of North Cherry Street and charged with attempted burglary, first degree, causing bodily injury and assault causing serious injury.

According to a Creston Police report, on June 12 officers were dispatched to Swigart and Vine streets to speak with a female about an altercation that had just occurred. The female, identified as Cox, told officers that she was following her fiance, who was intoxicated, from the bar when he stopped at a residence on Cherry Street. Officers determined that Cox entered the residence without permission and assaulted a female who was the owner of the residence and took her fiance’s pants, wallet, cell phone and shoes from the home before leaving. The homeowner did have marks on her face and a cut near her collarbone. Cox returned the male’s property to officers.

She was transported to the Union County Jail where she was later released from after posting $26,000 cash or surety bond.
