Jerry M. Williams, 42, of Corning, was taken into custody at 4:42 p.m. June 3 on the 600 block of Wyoming Avenue on a Union County warrant for the charge of domestic abuse assault impeding flow of air/blood.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:11 a.m. May 19, officers were called to a Creston residence for a reported domestic dispute. The victim stated that Williams had grabbed her by the throat while she was in the bathroom of the residence. The victim said she pushed Williams away from her and tried to shut the bathroom door but Williams forced the door open and again grabbed her by the throat. The victim stated she got away from Williams and went to the bedroom to lay down. Williams entered the bedroom, where he and the victim had a verbal altercation before Williams reportedly jumped on top of the victim, grabbed her by the throat and started to strangle her. Victim began to kick Williams, which allowed her to get away from him and call 911. When Williams saw the victim with the phone and who she was calling, he ran out of the back door.

Williams was transported to the Union County Jail where he was later released from after posting $2,000 cash or surety bond.
