Samantha R. Lauer, 24, of Creston, was taken into custody 8:57 p.m. May 16, at Walmart, on the charge of theft, fifth degree.

According to a Creston Police report, Lauer was observed by store employees concealing merchandise valued at $65.68 and walking past security alarms without paying for merchandise.

Lauer was cited and released from the scene on a summons to appear.

Christopher J. Cooklin, 54, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, was taken into custody 2:19 a.m. May 17, at Sumner and Adams streets on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a Creston Police report, Cooklin consented to a search of his property where a metal grinder containing a green leafy substance, consistent with marijuana, was located.

Cooklin is being held in Union County Jail on $300 cash or surety bond.
