Jonathon David Schwarte, 20, 35516 Juniper Road, Oakland, Iowa, was charged 12:27 a.m. Friday with operating while under the influence and minor in possession of alcohol on Interstate-80.

According to a Adair County Sheriff’s report, Schwarte passed a deputy at high speed. The deputy pulled him over and Schwarte was visibly intoxicated and his vehicle smelled of alcohol. Schwarte also had Hawkeye Vodka on the passenger side floorboard. Schwarte consented to field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test that determined he had a BAC of .220. He was taken to the Adair County Jail where he was given a second breathalyzer test that determined a BAC of .162.

Schwarte was being held in the Adair County Jail on $1,000 bond.

Jonathon Scott Clarke, 19, of Fontanelle, was charged 1 a.m. Friday with domestic abuse assault at his residence

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, an argument between Clarke and a female victim escalated into violence after she told him he was moving out. Clarke shoved and hit her multiple times as she was packing her things. Members of the victim’s family were there as witnesses. The victim stated she was struck on the right side of her face, right arm and right breast. The deputy found her arm and face to be red and the victim stated her breast was already tender from being pregnant. The deputy found Clarke and another male walking on 4th Street and he admitted to shoving the victim and striking her multiple times.

Clarke was being held in the Adair County Jail on $1,000 bond.

Zakary Arthur Titus, 27, 1503 N. Lincoln St., Creston, was charged 3:04 a.m. Saturday on Union County warrants for violation of probation and additionally charged with driving while barred and eluding the speed limit at the intersection of Littlefield Drive and Pheasant Place in Exira.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, Titus was stopped for driving between 115 and 120 mph in a 55 mph zone. Titus was apprehended in Audubon County and had three warrants out of Union County. Titus was driving while barred and had previous convictions of eluding at speeds 25 mph over the limit.

Titus was being held in the Adair County Jail on $7,000 bond.

Jose Maas-Bueno, 42, 166 Gladstone Dr., Glendale Heights, Illinois, was charged with operating while under the influence on the Interstate-80 westbound onramp.

According to an Adair County Sheriff’s report, a deputy found Maas Bueno in the ditch and asked him to sit in his vehicle. Maas Bueno smelled of alcohol and failed his field sobriety tests and refused to consent to a breathalyzer test. The deputy found a box of Corona but no empty bottles. Maas Bueno stated he drove into the ditch by losing control trying to avoid a collision with a driver coming north on highway 25.

Maas-Bueno was being held in the Adair County Jail on $1,000 bond.

Jose Hugo Chavira-Alvarez, 38, 76th St., Urbandale, was being held on a warrant from Colorado without bond in the Adair County Jail.
