Jhon’ta DeShawn Gonnigan, 20, 725 6th St., Elk River, Minnesota, was charged 11:55 Oct. 14 with fifth-degree theft at 806 Laurel St.

According to a Creston Police report, Gonnigan was caught on surveillance not scanning or paying for less than $300 worth of items at Walmart.

Gonnigan was cited and released at the scene.

Khayden Jean Hooks, 19, 1501 W. Townline St., was charged 11:55 p.m. Oct. 14 with fifth-degree theft at 806 Laurel St.

According to a Creston Police report, Hooks did not scan or pay for less than $300 worth of items at Walmart.

Hooks was cited and released at the scene.

James Chandler Sash, 57, 809 w. Adams St., was charged 3:16 p.m. Friday with fifth-degree theft at 600 Sheldon St.

According to a Creston Police report, Sash was caught by an employee attempting to leave Hy-Vee with $31.50 worth of stolen items.

Sash was released on his promise to appear.

Logan John Connelly, 31, 2508 210th St., Afton, was charged 3:24 a.m. Saturday with operating while intoxicated at the intersection of Chestnut and Howard Streets.

According to a Creston Police report, Connelly was stopped for having no tail lights and admitted to consuming alcohol. He failed balance tests and had a BAC of .190.

Connelly was being held in the Union County Jail on $2,000 bond.

Joshua Allen Connelly, 35, 723 2nd St., Lorimor, was charged 7:50 p.m. Saturday with fifth-degree theft 903 N. Sumner St.

According to a Creston Police report, an officer was dispatched to Casey’s and informed of Connelly stealing multiple cups of coffee. He mentioned running in case officers showed up and he wasn’t there. After knowing what he looked like on surveillance footage, the officer tracked Connelly down at Hair House. He stated he had made his own hot chocolate at Casey’s and offered to have the officer smell it. The officer smelled it and it smelled like coffee. The officer asked him why it smelled like that and he stated it was because it was a cup from the bank. The officer reminded him the bank was closed. Connelly stated it was a while ago and insisted he only took water from Casey’s.

Connelly was cited and released on his promise to appear.

Kenny Joe Cunningham, 31, 307 S. Vine St., was charged 11:01 a.m. Sunday with driving while suspended and possession of a controlled substance at the intersection of Elm and Union streets.

According to a Creston Police report, Cunningham had a blunt in his wallet.

Cunningham was being held in the Union County Jail on $2,000.

Robert Todd Jackson, 42, and Deanne Michelle Jackson, 44, Creston, were charged 10:17 p.m. Sunday with domestic abuse assault at their residence.

According to Creston Police reports, Robert struck Deanne in the face, bruising her left eye and breaking her glasses. He also pushed her to the bedroom floor and held her forearm behind her back. Deanne struck Robert with multiple hits and also knocked the glasses off his face.

Robert and Deanne Jackson are being held in the Union and Adams County Jails, respectively, without bond until seen by a magistrate.
