Michael Edward Baker, 35, 2156 Hi and Dry Rd., was charged Friday on Union County warrants for operating while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance at at 302 N. Pine St.

According to Union County Sheriff’s reports, on March 22, 2019, Baker was passed out and intoxicated behind the wheel of his vehicle with a firearm. On Aug. 27, 2020, Baker was found with marijuana, Xanax and methamphetamine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Baker was being held in the Union County Jail without bond until his appearance before a Judge.

Charlene Katherine Yardley, 24, 801 S. Milner St., Ottumwa, was charged 6 p.m. Saturday with violation of a protection order at 1549 Green Valley Park.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, Yardley called 911 to report a domestic disturbance, and was discovered there was a protective order between Yardley and the victim in Wapello County.

Yardley was being held in the Union County Jail before being transferred to the Adams County Jail.

Joshua David Carpenter, 38, 504 7th St., Lorimor, was charged 9:28 p.m. Sunday with domestic abuse assault causing injury in the 500 block of 7th Street in Lorimor.

According to a Union County Sheriff’s report, Carpenter assaulted a female victim by spitting in her face and pushing her to the ground. The victim had a bleeding scrape on her left knee and abrasions to her left palm that also bled. Carpenter was not injured and admitted to pushing the victim, but said it was in self-defense.

Carpenter was being held in the Union County Jail without bond until an appearance before the judge.
