Madison Nicole Gilliland, 20, 55th St., Des Moines, was charged with first-offense operating while under the influence 12:42 a.m. Jan. 10 in Stuart.

According to a Stuart Police report, officers observed Gilliland driving a 2017 Kia traveling 37 mph in a 25 mph zone and said the vehicle also appeared to be in the on-coming lane. Officers noted Gilliland had slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes and a smell of alcohol on her breath. She failed the one leg stand field sobriety test and refused the preliminary breath test. At the Adair County Sheriff’s office, a Datamaster test showed a blood alcohol level of .08. Adair County Deputies assisted.

Gilliland was cited and released.

Pastel Renee Force, 26, 510th St., Walnut, was charged with first-offense operating while under the influence 12:30 p.m. Jan. 11 at mile marker 93 on Interstate 80.

According to a Stuart Police report, Force was attempting to enter the westbound lane of I-80 in the wrong direction. Officers noted Force had bloodshot, glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol on her breath. She admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening. She failed field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test indicated her blood alcohol was above .08. Force was transported to the Adair County Jail where a Datamaster test revealed a blood alcohol level of .193.

Force was cited and released to another individual.

Zachary Michael Anderson Wailes, 26, Southwest 7th Street, Stuart, was charged on an Adair County warrant for fifth-degree theft midnight Jan. 13 at the Sac County Jail.

According to a Stuart Police report, at approximately 10 p.m. Dec. 5,Wailes took a vehicle from in front of an apartment in Stuart. He was then involved in a high speed chase in Lake City. Wailes admitted to Jackson Norton, who rented the vehicle from Enterprise Rental, that he had taken the vehicle and been involved in the chase. The vehicle was located by the Fort Dodge Police Department at a hotel in Fort Dodge.

Estimated value of the vehicle was $27,938. Wailes was released on his promise to appear.

Payton Alyssa Hill, 21, 6th Street, Menlo, was charged with violation of probation, second-offense domestic abuse assault and first-, second- and third-offense possession of a controlled substance midnight Jan. 15.

According to a Stuart Police report, at approximately 11:20 p.m. Jan. 12, officers who knew Hill had active arrest warrants saw her walking on South Adair Street in Stuart. Hill said she had been assaulted by a male. At a later time, witness said Hill assaulted the male causing him injury. Officers noted the victim had a cut on his fingers and said he had a lump on his head which officers were unable to see due to the victim’s hair. At the time of the conversation with Hill, officers were in their patrol car confirming Hill’s arrest warrant when they heard an object hit their vehicle. Officers saw an eyeglass case on the ground approximately five feet away from Hill. Inside the case, officers found a glass pipe with residue that later tested positive for methamphetamine, four small clear plastic baggies with a white crystalline substance, a scoop straw, and other paraphernalia. HIll admitted the items were hers and said there were more pipes in her purse. A search of the purse revealed two pipes and a grinder with a green leafy substance which officers believed to be marijuana.

Hill was released on her promise to appear.
