LETTER: America the beautiful

America the beautiful, ripped, tattered and torn. She is teetering toward the abyss and can not take much more.

What do we do, who can we call? We try every avenue but Congress ignores us all. How can this be, how did we get here, we ask. How can we stay strong, to be up for this task?

We must take breaks, we must have some fun. But hard to do with the world coming undone. Sleepless nights, worrisome days, looking to each other to light our way.

Smile at a stranger, talk to a friend, help those in need, where does this end? Listen to music, cook some good food, anything at all to lighten the mood.

So much worry, so many in pain, people erased, politicians deranged. Will we forget how it all was before? Our memories, our attention spans, so very short.

America the beautiful, hanging by a thread, pick up our needles to sew her together again.

There will always be evil, there will always be greed, the power hungry man will never recede. We demand to be heard but we are ignored, we are the peons, they are the lords. They demand the control, they love to cause fear, it’s evil thinking to which they now must adhere.

So very heart breaking, to say the least. How do we rise above this beast? America the beautiful, my country tis of thee. Hold fast, hold tight, the best that you can. We are fighting for you, we are taking a stand.

We will not waiver, we will not cry, we must hold firm in the darkest of times. America the beautiful, great land of liberty, hold to the task of keeping us free.
