February is Black History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate its strengths, talents and contributions made to our society by our African-American brothers and sisters.
To promote this effort the Creston Human Rights Coalition will be sponsoring and supporting a number of community events throughout the month, many of which will be listed in the Creston News Advertiser. The Human Rights Coalition thanks our local newspaper.
What is the Creston Human Rights Coalition? It’s a group of dedicated individuals who have been meeting, communicating and educating themselves for several years on the importance of diversity and acceptance in our local area.
The mission of the Creston Human Rights Coalition is to recognize and reduce the racial and social biases present in ourselves and our community. Our goals are to raise awareness about various types of discrimination, identity the inequality present in our current and social and economic systems and improve the quality of life for all marginalized and vulnerable populations. Visit our Facebook group and become a member of this educational endeavor. Meeting times are posted on this site.
Diversity and acceptance were the foundation of the United States of America. Those attributes continue to contribute to the richness of our society today.
