LETTER: Vote for Roger Vicker

Roger Vicker has dedicated these past years to educating himself on the ins and outs of Union County by regularly attending supervisor meetings and maintaining an open dialogue with our supervisors and county personnel. You will find him at most Monday morning meetings with iPad in hand asking questions and interacting with the visitors and supervisors. This board room is where I have come to know and admire Roger.

Roger is a wealth of factual county information. I honestly cannot think of a time in the past couple years that I have not needed Roger’s assistance helping me with county fact finding. I learn something new from him almost every time we discuss a new topic. His experience is a strength this county would benefit ten fold from.

A very important point I want to share is that Roger has lived and worked his life in rural Union County. He knows firsthand how county property taxes have impacted his quality of life. He knows how one can be directly affected by county supervisor decisions. An example would be Roger and his neighbors have been impacted by wind turbines located just over a mile in three out of four directions from his home and others. They deal daily with sight lines, sound and destruction of local wildlife.

Property ownership/rights is another issue Roger is a champion of. He spent countless hours protecting the property and the rights of those whose homes were going to be directly affected by wind turbines and acres of solar panel placement. Roger also voiced his concerns regarding the importance of preserving county roads and bridges during these long construction phases.

Reduction of the county levy will always be a goal at the top of Roger’s list. He will never stop looking for ways to reduce waste and costs in the county budget. He will never stop researching new ideas to bring commerce and tourism to Union County. Roger will never stop believing in the people of Union County. He will always do his best. I believe in Roger Vicker. Share his vision with me! Vote yes on Nov. 8.
