First off I have to respond to a recent letter by Steven Key. Mr. Key’s letter is a classic example of projection. He accuses others of what his side is actually guilty of. Mr. Key is right that their has been overwhelming damage done by one party but it is his party that has led this catastrophe.

Secondly Mike Lang’s “Random Thoughts” column of May 24 is a literal list of the “Fake News” or as I call it “Lies” that have divided this country so badly. He is against the social media companies’ attempts to stop the lies like the ones that caused the 1/6 insurrection and attempted coup and the racist attacks in Buffalo and Texas and so many others.

He rails against “Real” history being taught because it might make white people look bad. He claims local governments are defunding the police but I know of nowhere that has defunded the police. Some places have had some police reform and rightly so as too many unarmed people of color or those having a mental health issue have been shot by police.

He then moves on to keeping the”Big Lie” about the 2020 election being stolen alive. Then it is the lie that COVID shots aren’t worth investing in as you can still get COVID. The reality is with a shot you are 90+% not going to die or be hospitalized. Thats why it’s worth it. Finally he should blame Putin and the oil companies who have not restarted production that was shut down in 2020 due to no demand for the price of gas now. Do better Mr. Lang. The least you can do is be honest.
