LETTER: Propaganda

This last winter our household switched to streaming. This as some of you already know opens up a vast vault of opportunities to entertain and educate one’s self. In my case, it opened up incredible opportunities to delve even deeper into world history than I have ever gone. History has always been my passion to learn and boy did I learn.

I spent the entire winter months watching anything and everything I could find on World War II and the number of documentaries was astounding.

Oddly the most overwhelming aspect of all I watched was the efficiency and effectiveness that Hitler used propaganda to control the message, the facts, and the people. In fact, I was totally shocked to see how he controlled an entire country with lies, coverups and propaganda.

What eventually became even more astounding was the fact that the entire process has been taking place in America for the last six or seven years. Our modern-day media outlets large and small, virtually all social media have been spreading lies, covering up critical stories and spreading false propaganda hourly.

Even worse one of our country’s major political parties has been the overwhelming leader in this catastrophe. To the extent, they tried to impeach a president twice over proven lies, tried to stop a Supreme Court nominee over proven lies and on and on. All of this continues to this day even though every attempt has been proven by our FBI, DOJ, and even CIA in one case to be nothing but falsehoods.

The most difficult part of all of this is when I realize that an ongoing effort of this is happening regularly in our own Creston News Advertiser. Time after time I have read pure propaganda printed in our local newspaper as if it is proven fact when in each and every case it has been proven quite the opposite. I fully realize that this propaganda will continue and most likely increase as we get closer to elections as a certain party has obviously nothing but propaganda to offer. We are witness to their policies on a daily basis and the overwhelming damage it has done to America.

It is my hope by writing this that people just take the time to do a little research on their own and not just believe the spewers of propaganda. I have recently been happy to see that the viewership of numerous of the top propaganda outlets like CNN, MSNBC and others has plummeted. It even appears recently the propaganda world has been shaken to its core with the realization that Elon Musk may purchase Twitter and turn it back into a free speech forum once again.

There is always hope for a better tomorrow.
