‘Let’s maintain what we have right now’

From Jim Stalker, Creston

Creston Community School Board, (CCSD, Creston News Advertiser, Nov. 26, 2021. “Creston Board inching toward finalizing a plan to update district facilities, at a cost of $36.3 million.”

Slow down! We are not a university. As is stated in the board’s title, we are a community. Remember when we were fighting tooth and nail to build a new high school at an astronomical cost of somewhere around $5 million? Those were the days! We are still in those days!

Face it, we have a pretty decent new high school and elementary school. We even have a new bus barn and sports fields galore. Let’s leave it at that.

Let’s maintain what we have right now and forget about $36.3 million that we can’t ever hope to have in our grasp or in our board members’ grasp, lest they figure out how to spend it without permission form the taxpayer’s vote.
