Unapologetically human

From Robert Lee, Creston

I would like to know what being unapologetically white means? Does it mean you believe white people have no responsibility for the way non-whites have been treated in this country for 400 plus years? Does it mean since you are white you have no compassion for the racism that lives in this community right now?

I am sure you feel no responsibility for the pictures that surfaced of our football team a few years ago but these kids learned that somewhere and I am positive it wasn’t the black or brown community that taught them that. I am also certain that anyone grounded in any kind of reality would not try to dismiss the attack on the Capitol as anything other than an insurrection and an attempt to overthrow a free and fair election. Continuing to tell the “Big Lie” when there is absolutely no proof whatsoever of any kind of fraud is dangerous and frankly unpatriotic and seditious.

Spreading lies about COVID-19, masking and vaccines is just crazy and tech companies have every right to keep the lies from their sites. This paper is opening itself up to litigation by printing the false claims that the election machines were somehow hijacked. Using false claims to pass voter suppression laws may end up backfiring on Republicans as you are the minority not the majority anymore and that is your real problem. The real difference is I am unapologetically human instead of defining myself by my color which I had no choice in.
