Evelyn Konecne, 99, of Creston, died Monday, March 30, 2026, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 11 a.m., April 30, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor David Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation, with family receiving friends, will be 10-11 a.m., prior to services at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Evelyn Mae (Brown) was born Aug. 19, 1926, to Josiah Norman Brown and Margaret M. (Wallace) Brown in Corning. She attended Creston School and graduated with the class of 1944.
Evelyn was married to her high school sweetheart, Carroll Eugene Konecne, June 30, 1946, in Creston. After marriage, Evelyn worked at the telephone company for a couple of years before becoming a mother and staying home to raise her children. They were blessed with four children: Steven, Terri, John and Jimmy. When Jimmy was born with Down syndrome, she dedicated her life to taking care of him. She did a wonderful job. When he was in school, she went to work at Casey’s making donuts for several years and also became a paraprofessional in the special education classes. She was a beautiful seamstress, loved making prom dresses and enjoyed reading until her eyesight wouldn’t allow.
Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church in Creston.
Survivors include her children: Steven Craig (Alyssa) Konecne of Bemidji, Minnesota, Terri Ann (Roger) Main of Creston and John Michael (Diane) Konecne of Greenfield; grandchildren: Tisha (Mike) Worden of Pleasant Hill, T.J. (Mindy) Stalker of Creston, Todd (Cari) Stalker of Creston, Meghan Konecne of Las Vegas, Nevada, John (Jeannie) Konecne of Bemidji, Christopher (Therese) Konecne of Minnesota, Alexis (Isaac) Toivonen of Moorhead, Minnesota, Spencer Konecne of Bemidji, Quincy (Hannah) Main of Mount Ayr and Wiley (Carrie) Main of Mount Ayr; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Jacob, C.T., Marlee, Sam, Charlie, Hadley, Ben, Ada, Oliver, Louden, Calvin, Hallee, Bella, Abram and Lyndie; along with her half-brother, Timothy (Vicki) Brown of Creston.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carroll Konecne in 2018; her son Jimmy Konecne; sister Lois (James) Hewitt; stepsister Penny McNeer and her sister-in-law Doris Elaine Konecne.
