Ronald Dale Brammer Sr., son of Rex Ellsworth Brammer Sr. and Effie Ellen (Simmons) Brammer, was born Aug. 9, 1943, in Creston. Ronald attended community schools in both Lenox and Newton.
In 1962, Ron was united in marriage to Penny Sue Wood in Creston, where they settled. From this union they were blessed with three children Ronnie, Kevin and Shawnee. Ron began his career as a truck driver. They were later divorced.
Later, Ron had a special friend, Patty Foley. From this union, the couple were blessed with a daughter, Corrina. They settled in Macksburg. Ron continued to drive truck.
In 1974, Ron was united in marriage to Bingta Waltz. Ron continued his career as a truck driver and they were later divorced.
In 1978, Ron was united in marriage to Misti Ross. From this union they were blessed with two daughters, Tshanta and Victoria. They settled in St. Charles, where Ron continued his career driving truck. They were later divorced.
In 1985, Ron was united in marriage to Rosalie Alloway. They settled in Newton where the happy couple added two stepdaughters to the family, Alicia and Carey. Ron continued his career driving truck.
In 1991, Ron returned to Macksburg and enjoyed the company of a special friend, Patty Long. Ron has always enjoyed playing guitar and was in several different old country bands. He also enjoyed playing with Phil Vandel over the years and at the Macksburg Shop. Ron enjoyed playing the lottery and most of all his scratchers, especially the bingo ones. Some of his favorite sayings were “I heard that” and “You got that right.” His love for fishing was endless. Any chance he got, he packed up a pole and went.
Ron later moved to Creston. Ron’s extensive career as a truck driver ended in 2003, following him driving over seven million miles. He loved telling stories about the several states he trucked through. He definitely had an ornery side to him; even at the end he loved giving the staff a hard time.
Ron is survived by his six children: Ronald Brammer Jr. of Creston, Kevin Brammer of Macksburg, Corrina Teachout of Des Moines, Shawnee Brammer of Creston, Tshanta Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Victoria Brammer of Creston; two stepdaughters, Alicia Chance and Carey Lebhart both of Newton; many grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Randy Downey of Carroll and Kevin Downey of Creston; two sisters, Vickie Downey and Sharon Downey, both of Des Moines, and many nieces, nephews and other family.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother Rex Brammer (McFee); two sisters, Judy Pritchard and Carla Downey; brother-in-law Gene Moore and wife Rose Brammer in 2020.
