David Bruce, 64, of Creston, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. Celebration of Life Services will be 1 p.m., Sunday, March 8, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be at a later date. Alexandra Findlay will officiate. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., prior to service time at the funeral home.

David Robert Bruce, son of James Robert Bruce and Delores Ethel (Reiss) Bruce, was born Sept. 3, 1961, in Pinetop, Arizona. He attended high school in Moravia and graduated with the class of 1979. He would then serve his country as part of the National Guard out of Ottumwa.
After graduation, he worked various construction jobs and would continue to work construction throughout his working career. On Oct. 16, 1982, Dave was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Boer at the Calvary Baptist Church in Ottumwa.
The two settled in Creston and both worked at Taco John’s where Dave managed the restaurant for three years. He met many people throughout his time there and always offered a safe place to stay for those in need. Before retirement in 2023, he was a welder and maintenance man for Trolli in Creston and Michael Foods in Lenox.
Dave enjoyed the simple treasures in life and enjoyed the outdoors immensely. In the summer, he could always be found fishing or just relaxing on his motorcycle. He actively participated in the Pub’s poker runs and any bike rides. Another pastime of his was fixing up classic cars with Sandy, including a ’69 Road Runner and a ’72 Charger.
Surviving Dave is his wife Sandy Bruce of Creston; mother Delores Bruce of Grinnell; stepdaughter Kim Morgan of Creston; brothers, Kirk (Jan) Bruce of Des Moines and James (Cristy) Bruce of Urbana; sister Mary (Marty) Massman of Grinnell; grandchildren: Alexandra (Andrew) Findlay, Hope (Jon) Morgan, Chance (Rachel) Morgan and Michael (Harlee) Morgan; along with numerous family members and extensive friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
