Pat Kerrigan, 73, of Afton, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, at Greater Regional Health in Creston. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor John Rutz will officiate. Services will be livestreamed. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery near Afton. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be from 9-10:30 a.m., prior to the service at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. A lunch/gathering will be held at Lakeshore Golf & Country Club in Afton following burial.

Patrick James Kerrigan was born March 2, 1952, to Marjorie Elaine (Huss) Kerrigan and LeRoy James Kerrigan in Creston. Pat graduated from East Union High School in 1970. He continued his education at Southwestern Community College followed by Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science graduating in 1973. He began working part time for Stroud Funeral Home in Afton prior to going to Cincinnati.
On July 10, 1971, Pat was united in marriage to Sheryl Ann Mitchell at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. Following graduation, they settled in Des Moines where he served his internship at Dahlstrom Funeral Home on Northeast Ninth Street. Following his internship, Pat moved to Iowa City and worked for Donohue Mortuary as a funeral director before returning to Des Moines and working for Iles Funeral Homes at Westover Funeral Home as a funeral director. Pat returned to Afton in the early 1980s and began working with his brother Bob farming for 40-plus years. Pat and Sheryl later divorced.
On Jan. 25, 2003, Pat was united in marriage to Connie Adams, they settled north of Afton on the farm. Pat was an active farmer, including raising cattle with his brother, son and grandchildren.
Pat was KSIB’s most loyal morning listener and enjoyed the co-op’s free coffee every morning for the last 40 years.
Pat is survived by his wife Connie Kerrigan of Afton; son Jeremy (Candi) Kerrigan of Afton; daughter Shawn (Brent) Boss of Centerton, Arkansas; two stepdaughters, Laurie Murphy of Des Moines and Mindy (Dallas) Roper of Farnhamville; sister Sandy (Steve) Bradley of Oelwein; five grandchildren: Tate, Madeline, Chloe, Bella and Amelia; three step-grandchildren: Linkin, Tripp and Brixton along with a great-grandson, Westyn James Kerrigan coming in July; his sister-in-law, Kristine Kerrigan of Afton and many other extended family members.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert.
