Jack Larson, 88, of Afton, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026. A public visitation will be held 4-8 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 26, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center of Creston. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 27 at Sunset Memorial Chapel in Des Moines. Mr. Loren Caudill will be officiating. Jack will be laid to rest in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. The family requests no memorial contributions.
Jack Earl Larson was born Sept. 24, 1937, in Des Moines. His parents were Letitia Edith (Braden) and Earl A. Larson. Jack went to school in Des Moines, then joined the United States Army, serving from 1954 – 1957, and was stationed two years in Japan.
On Feb. 14, 1958, Jack was united in marriage to Donna Jean McQuiston and they were blessed with three children: Susan Godfroy, Julie (Bob) Dvorak and John (Kristina) Larson.
Jack owned and operated his own transmission repair shop in Des Moines before moving to Afton in 1979 where he also farmed and opened his transmission shop in Creston. Jack retired in 2011.
He loved his savior, Jesus Christ, stock-car racing, farming and raising pigeons.
Jack is survived by his wife Donna Larson; his son John (Kristina) Larson; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Bob Dvorak; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Jack in death was his parents; his two daughters, Susan and Julie; his sisters, Shirley and Mary along with aunts and uncles.
