Deborah A. Scott, 78, of Clearfield, passed away Feb. 7, 2026.

Deborah Ann Scott (nee Davis), 78, of Clearfield, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 7, 2026. Debby was born Oct. 7, 1947, the daughter of Augustus and Elva Davis (nee Turner) in Rushville, Indiana,

Debby graduated from Rushville High School then went on to college, eventually earning her master’s in psychology from Grandview University in Des Moines. Debby was known for her love of animals, her gift for gardening and her involvement with her church and community. She was a member of LDS for 30 years and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Creston.

She worked at the Red Oak greenhouse for many years before she decided to start college. After graduating, she taught several years of special education at Hiatt Middle School in Des Moines. Then she worked in the receiving department at Windsor Windows in Des Moines. When she moved back to Southwest Iowa to be close to family, she substitute taught at Villisca and Corning schools before her health required her to retire early.

Remaining to cherish Debby’s memory are her sister Angie Riggle; her husband Larry Scott; her sons, Michael (Mark Reynolds) Montgomery and John Robert “Bob” (Sarah) Stuart; daughter Genie (Bobby) Taylor; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Bobby) Bowen, Jonathan (Alexis) Stuart, Jordan (Payge) Stuart and Shane, Colten and Austin Taylor; great-grandchildren: Reece and Allie Bowen and Bryden, Brecken, Sloan and Graham Stuart and a large extended family of nieces and nephews who loved her deeply.

Debby’s son, Brian “Shawn” Corpe (wife Cindy) preceded her in death, along with her mother and father.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m.- noon, March 7, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Creston. Funeral/memorial services will be held March 7th at noon at the church. Interment will be in the Clearfield Cemetery in Grant Township.

Memorial donations in Debby’s memory may be directed to Midland’s Humane Society in Council Bluffs, where she rescued her cherished cat, Miss Cuddles, or toward a memorial bench in Debby’s memory.
