Marvin "Butch" Conley, 78, of Creston, died Feb. 19, 2026, at his home in Creston.

Marvin “Butch” Conley, 78, of Creston, was born April 23, 1947, and passed away peacefully at home Feb. 19, 2026. Butch was recognized for his friendly demeanor and generous spirit. He grew up in Creston, where he was raised and educated and he never met a stranger, always greeting everyone with a smile.

Butch began his career working alongside his father at Conley Construction before finding his niche as a millwright. He dedicated many years to working on significant components in various industrial power plants, including Conagra in Omaha, Nebraska, and General Motors. Outside of his work life, Butch had a deep passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, embracing the biker lifestyle wholeheartedly. He built one of his motorcycles, a project he was particularly proud of, showcasing his skills and dedication.

In his personal life, Butch married Sarah Moore in 1966, with whom he had two children, Jamie and Ginger. Though the couple later divorced, they shared a bond that lasted through their years. He went on to marry Carlotta May for five years and then Lois Patton, with whom he spent 11 years from 1982 until 1993. Despite their divorce, Butch maintained a friendship with Lois, who remained an important part of his life.

Butch is survived by his son Jamie Conley and his daughter Ginger (Rick) Van Pelt, both of Creston. He was a loving grandfather to Parker Van Pelt. He also leaves behind his companion, Lois Patton of Corning; his sister Donna Conley and nephew Branden Conley, all of Creston, along with a host of other relatives and friends who cherished him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Orville and Alberta Mae (Jones) Conley, and his siblings: Ron Bacon, Mark Bacon, Linda Adair and Dave Conley.

Butch Conley’s legacy will live on through the memories of his family and friends. He will be remembered for his kind heart, adventurous spirit and the way he embraced life on his own terms. Services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. and a memorial service at 11 a.m.
