Albert Dean “Curley” Spurrier, 84, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Clearfield, passed away peacefully Jan. 28, 2026.

Curley was born in Clearfield to R.E. and Fern Spurrier and graduated from Clearfield Community School. In 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Duey, and together they built a wonderful life filled with love, laughter and family. They raised three children — Scott, Angela Naydock-Hale and Brent — who, along with their families, continue his legacy.

Curley began working early at his family’s business, Spurrier Oil Company, and spent his career in the service station industry. He and Brenda lived for many years in Boulder, Colorado, where Curley owned and operated Canyon Mobil and later Baseline Mobil. After returning home in 1982, he joined his brother Rich in Spurrier Bros. Oil, enjoying the camaraderie of friends, customers and “the coffee guys.”

He was a longtime member of the Clearfield Christian Church, later attending Mesa Baptist Church, and belonged to the Lions Club. Curley will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kindness and love for family and community.

He is survived by his wife Brenda; their children and families; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; family members and granddaughter Piper Spurrier.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this spring in Clearfield, Iowa.

The family would like memorials directed to the Clearfield Cemetery Association, 1935 128th Ave., Diagonal, IA 50845.
