Janet Anderson, 68, of Creston, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, at her home in rural Creston. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. The family requests casual dress with Chiefs, Hawkeyes or Snoopy wear if possible. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. Services will be livestreamed. Burial will be at Prairie Lawn Cemetery near Spaulding. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Janet Louise Anderson was born July 29, 1957, to Clare Bernice (Benson) and Lester Charles Lininger in Creston. She was raised in Creston and graduated from Creston High School.
On June 29, 1975, Janet was united in marriage to Dean Larse Anderson in Creston. They moved to rural Creston in the late ’70s and were lifelong residents. Janet worked at Wellman for 38 years in foundry support and was a member of the GMP Union, retiring in 2017. Janet enjoyed making and gifting cross-stitch blankets for her family and friends and making diamond art. She was a football fanatic and rooted for her favorite teams, the lowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Later, she enjoyed traveling to see and spend time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kelli (Shawn) Bucher of Maloy and Kara (Justin) Newcomb of Bury St. Edmunds, England; two sons, Casey (Alison) Anderson of Des Moines and Cody (Destiny) Anderson of Creston; six grandchildren: Alexzander and Catherine Anderson of Des Moines, Theodore Anderson of Creston and Emma, Wendy and Ryleigh Newcomb of Bury St. Edmunds; brother Lyn Lininger of Arkansas and two sisters, Jeanette (Steve) Lorimor of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Lynette (Julian) Alvarez of Kansas City, Missouri.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dean in 2015 and her daughter Wendy Jo in 1985.
