William was born Nov. 21, 1943, to Vern Warren and Francis Louise (Overholser) Davis in Maryville, Missouri. William grew up on a farm near Sheridan, Missouri, where his father passed along a love of motorcycles and almost anything mechanical. He spent most of his adult life driving trucks, taking long motorcycle vacations with his wife Dorene and watching or working on race cars and THINKING about watching or working on race cars. He may have watched or read a true crime story or two.

He never met a stranger and could sit at a table and tell OR listen to a story, as long as there were stories being told.

He is survived by wife Dorene; sons, William (Julie) of Corning and Brian (Bridget) of Centerville; grandchildren: Evan (Madelynn) Davis of Corning, Claudia Taylor of Tooele, Utah, Christian (Bella) Davis of Tooele and Claire Davis of Centerville and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Baileigh Davis.
