Roger Lewis John, 65, of Lenox, passed away Nov. 5, 2025, at his home.

Roger Lewis John, 65, of Lenox, passed away Nov. 5, 2025, at his home. A funeral service for Roger John, 65, of Lenox, was held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Lenox Community Center. Visitation was held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the Lenox Community Center until service time. Interment was held at North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.

Roger, the son of Lyle and Lucille (Hawkins) John, was born Sept. 1, 1960, in Corning. Roger graduated from Lenox High School in 1978, then went on to study at Northwest Missouri State University, where he earned a masters degree in education.

He went on to teach history at Odessa High School in Odessa, Missouri, where he also found a love for coaching sports. Throughout his years at Odessa High School he coached football, basketball and softball. One of his greatest accomplishments was assisting the Odessa High School football team in winning their first state championship in 1994.

Roger was married to Mary (Halligan) John in 2011. He had two daughters in his previous marriage, Haley and Amber. Roger loved spending time with his family and enjoyed going on many summer family vacations throughout the years.

Roger was passionate about sports and especially loved spending his free time on the golf course. He cheered faithfully for the Iowa Hawkeyes and loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs football games.

Roger is survived by his wife Mary (Halligan) John of Lenox; his daughter Haley (Brian) Corn and grandchildren, Aliyah and Weston of Odessa; his daughter, Amber (Jacob) Lawhon of Kansas City, Missouri; his brothers, Steve John of Lenox and Danny John of Iowa City; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his father Lyle John; his mother Lucille John and his sister Linda (John) Harbin.
