Richard “Woo” Woosley, 70, of Creston, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at the Clarke County Public Hospital in Osceola. Mr. Rick Titus will officiate the Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Richard Woosley Memorial Fund.
Richard Glenn Woosley was born Sept. 10, 1955, the son of Teddy Lee and Vera Maxine (Morris) Woosley in Creston. Richard was raised and educated in Creston, where he would spend most of his life. Richard was married a short time and later divorced. “Woo,” as he was known by his friends, worked as a certified welder in Omaha, Nebraska, for about 10 years. Woo could fix anything and loved tinkering with go-karts, bicycles and small engines.
Richard is survived by daughter Erica (Gabriel) Strong of Lake Stevens, Washington; two brothers, Randall Woosley and Mitch Gaiser, both of Creston; two sisters, Lora Gaiser of Des Moines and Jennifer (Ken) Morris of Marion. Woo is also survived by his special friend Peggy Kingery of Creston and by several nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.
Preceding Richard in death were his parents; brother Ron “R.W.” Woosley and nephew Ryan Lee Woosley.
