Stanley Jay Street, 66, of Corydon, passed away Oct. 9, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, surrounded by his family.
Stanley was born Nov. 19, 1958, to Charles and Virginia (Trembly) Street in Corydon. He graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1978.
On Oct. 24, 1992, Stan married the love of his life, Karen Gale. To this union, Stan brought along his two boys, Travis and Brett, and later came along their daughter Jessica (Jess). Together they loved and raised their children with pride. They celebrated nearly 33 years of marriage before his passing.
Throughout his whole life, Stan worked as a lineman, just as his father did, and they did it with pride. He had done power work in Washington and California and villages in Alaska, to name a few places. He also helped build the trolley you see riding around at Disneyland. He was a member of the I.B.E.W Local 77.
In his free time, Stanley loved to go fishing, crabbing and boating. He also loved to mow his lawn anytime it needed done. He was a great storyteller and had one ready at any moment.
Stanley was a father/brother-like figure to many people throughout the community. He could be described as kind, giving and generous. He loved his family with his whole heart, especially his seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and was anticipating others on the way.
Stanley is survived by his wife Karen; children: Brett (Lindsay) Street and Jessica (James) Cain-Street; daughter-in-law Starr Cure; grandchildren: Hannah, Keaton, Emmi, Kaden, Kelsi, Lydia and Maddy; great-grandchild Luka and twins on the way; siblings: Steve, Becky and Patricia; close friends: Jason Monte, Jason Downing, Pat Roat, Rich Mihalcea and Gene Gute; his adopted family: Madison Derrer, Darby Warnock and Tyler Anderson; along with many cousins, extended family and other friends who loved him dearly.
Stanley is preceded in death by his parents; son Travis Street and close cousins, Calvin Street and Jerry Street.
Per Stanley’s wishes, cremation has been accorded. Graveside services are planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Cambria Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at that Cambria Church.
