Corning

Norma Brown, 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully August 12, 2025, in Corning, Iowa, surrounded by family.

Born November 9, 1944, in Creston, Iowa, to Orma and Della (Hackett) Cooper, Norma grew up in Corning, graduating with the Class of 1963. She married the love of her life, Ronald Lee Brown, on October 2, 1965, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, sharing nearly 60 years together. In 1977, their greatest blessing, daughter Shyla, was born, and their bond was unbreakable. Norma cherished her granddaughters Jacy, Jentry, and Jordyn, and great-grandsons Chase and Archer.

Norma worked at Allied Insurance, Okey Vernon Bank, First Federal Bank, Prescott School, and Iowa DHS, retiring at 62. She faced Parkinson’s disease with grace, cared for at home by Ron and Shyla until entering Corning Nursing and Rehab in 2024, where she was loved by all.

She treasured holidays, especially Christmas, and was a gifted cook, gracious hostess, and talented gardener. She enjoyed motorcycle trips, camping, and countless gatherings with family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Ron, daughter Shyla (Jordan) Walter, sister Ruby June McCullough, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, sister April Damewood, and other dear relatives.

Per her wishes, no formal funeral will be held. A celebration of life will be at her home at a later date. Memorials may made in Norma’s name, to be determined later. Condolences may be left at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
