Michael Joseph Spaulding was born Jan. 22, 1948, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Richard “Dick” Myles and Virginia Josephine (Spaulding) Myles.

On May 10, 1976, he was united in marriage to Ruby Davis in Ottumwa. He lived in Detroit, Michigan, for several years working as a truck driver after completing courses, before moving to Iowa in 1989. He lived in the Ottumwa and Eldon area working as a roofer, and later retired from Hill Phoenix in Keosauqua. He later moved to Creston to be closer to his daughter. Michael was a member of the Abate organization.

Survivors include his children, Billy Baugher of Fremont, Michelle (David) Spaulding of Creston and Nicole Spaulding of Fremont; eight grandchildren: Lucas (Erin) Kopp, Shea (Megan) Baugher, Jacob Duffy, Devon Danger, Hunter (Dakota) Brooks, Zeb Duffy (fiancé Emilee), Alexis Danger and Haiden Kopp; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife Ruby Spaulding; brother William Sweet and his parents, Virginia Myles and Richard Myles.
