Maxine Moreland, of Creston, formerly of Afton, entered eternal rest Monday, June 16, 2025, at Accura HealthCare of Creston, at the age of 89 years, 10 months and six days. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 23, at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston, with Rev. Mary O’Riley officiating. Open visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to the service. Maxine will be laid to rest in Maple Hill Cemetery in Cromwell.

Maxine was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Cedar, Colorado, one of five children born to James and Elsie (Greenlee) Souther. She was raised and educated in the Norwood, Colorado, area, graduating from Norwood High School with the class of 1952.
On Dec. 17, 1954, Maxine was united in marriage to Robert W. Moreland in Santa Ana, California. The couple was blessed with two sons, Timothy and Jeffrey. They made their home in California until 1964, when they relocated to Afton. After the move, Maxine began working in the business office at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, where she dedicated more than 30 years before retiring in 1997.
In her free time, Maxine loved playing card and dice games with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed solving puzzles from all kinds of puzzle books.
Maxine will be remembered as a kind, caring, quiet and humble lady.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2022; her parents; her two brothers and two sisters and her in-laws, Gayl and Lou Moreland.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Tim (Bongsoon) Moreland and Jeff Moreland, both of Afton; five grandchildren: Chanda (Bill) Moreland-Hahesy, Evan Moreland, Kara (Anthony) Mange, Jordan (Brant) Hudson and Jared Moreland and five great-grandchildren: William (Kayla) Roberts, Bryanna (Jarron Kautz) Moreland, Nicolette Mange, Maddalena Mange and Anthony Mange Jr. Maxine is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
