Charles “Charlie” Herbert Abell III, 51, of Macksburg, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home while in hospice care.
Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg. Burial will be in the Moon Cemetery, south of Macksburg.
Charlie was born April 18, 1974, to Rod Abell and Chris Fukes in Iowa City. He grew up in the Creston area, and as an adult, settled in the Orient-Macksburg area. He worked a variety of jobs including metal scrapping and can redemption. Charlie married Desiree Perrin Aug. 31, 1996, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg.
He enjoyed spending time working on his vehicles and woodworking. His hobbies were attending flea markets and watching American Pickers. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his nieces and nephews and their children. He will be remembered for his love of animals and how he was always there to help friends and family when needed.
Charlie is survived by his sister, Hidie Abell (Tommy Waters); brother Adam (Tonya) Abell; stepmother Nancy Abell (Larry Dudley); mother-in-law Wilma Perrin; sister-in-law Robin Perrin (Troy McKinney); many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Desiree in 2020; father Rod; mother Chris; sister Elizabeth; father-in-law Robert Perrin and his grandparents.
